Pisa, September 28 th – 30 , 2022 Editorial preface Nowadays, turbomachinery plays a key role in both transportation and power generation. Although the generation is shifting towards exploitation of an increasing share renewable energy sources, large industrial turbomachines, especially gas turbines, will remain indispensable for viable mix next future. Turbomachinery continuously evolving to keep pace with new challenges transition and, particular, request higher efficiencies increased sustainability. To meet these goals wide range research activities are being performed.
